WHAT THE RESERVE OFFERS

The Visitor Centre
a building at the cutting edge that offers the visitor the possibility to understand and get to know the reserve.
Dioramas, touch-tanks, audio-visual displays, reconstructions of the environment and herbaria – a multi-sense experience!

 

The Duck Museum
located at the entrance to the reserve, this small display introduces the variety of ducks present on the reserve through drawings and models making it simpler, even for beginners, to observe and recognise the various species.

 

The Snackbar
a bar with large windows for a stopover and a snack. For large groups it is better to book in advance.

The ‘Marinetta' observatory
built along the lines of the lagoon dwellings called ‘casoni' and with three floors, the lowest of which allows observations to be made below the water level, the Marinetta looks out over the ‘ripristino', the surrounding wetlands and the entire Gulf of Trieste.

 

 

 

The Walks
The reserve offers several possibilities for whoever wishes to explore it. You can reach the Biancospino (Hawthorn) and Cioss (Wigeon) hides and get as far as Punto Spigolo (Spigolo Point) stopping off to observe the species present at the various observation points along thepath. You can also visit the “Caneo” (reedbed), the Alberoni wood and a newly laid-out area at Fiumicello.

 

By bike
the is a bicycle hire service for trips around the reserve.

 

 

 

Horseriding
accompanied excursions to see the reserve from another point of view.
Short rides for children, horseriding lessons and riding for the disabled are all possible on the reserve.

Learning experiences
to learn to observe, to understand, to study. There are varied enjoyable and memorable opportunities to enjoy learning experiences on the reserve through guided visits, laboratory work, open air laboratories, educational games, long-term programmes and formative experiences - all are available to groups visiting the reserve.
